Preparation for Departure

Normally I feel well prepared and have made checklists and checked off all items way before we leave.  This trip is different!  We have been planning for months.  We have made some hotel reservations, but have left some destinations open.  Then, we realized that we needed to move my dad into a new apartment before we left and my preparations totally changed direction!

All of the planning for the move went well - remarkably well.  And today we went to St. Mary Magdalen to sing  both Sunday masses and that went well too.  So our planning for departure took place this afternoon.  Laundry, cleaning out the refrigerator, packing, cleaning the bathroom and making a batch of pizza sauce.  I know that doesn't sound like travel preparation, but our beautiful Roma tomato plant gave us ripe tomatoes all at once this week and I could not stand to let those beauties go to waste.  So we have pizza sauce for now and frozen pizza sauce for later.

Dennis packed the car using the many checklists that we didn't have time to coordinate.  I will finish packing in just a few minutes - I heard the dryer stop so all of my clothes are now ready.  I am excited to see the states I have never visited before.  I want to see "big sky" and drive the Going to the Sun Road and enjoy meeting new people and seeing new places.  It is always an adventure and always includes the unexpected.  We will be posting thoughts and photos as we go.

Dennis: Here's our chariot that will take us!
